"Do you trust me?"

Wednesdays are always the funnest days...this picture is the proof

Today at our Girls at Risk Training Center, our goal was to build trust and communication.  What better way to do this than by hands-on activities!  After a discussion on what makes a good, faithful, trustworthy friend, we headed outside to answer the question, "Do you trust me?"

First up, each girl took a turn being blindfolded.  Silently another girl was brought before her, and the blindfolded girl had to guess who she was by feeling her face, her hair, her earrings.  While I guess this wasn't necessarily about trust, it was about knowing each other.  Do you know each other well enough to be able to identify them by something other than looking at them?  Some girls guessed right away, others had a bit more trouble.  I tried to disguise myself, but my hair gave me away--plus, my "sister" was the girl blindfolded.  She knew me almost instantly.

cuddling to stay warm on a chilly 25 degree morning!
Game two: the Human Knot!  Could we communicate well enough to turn ourselves from a jumble of twisted arms into a circle?

how do we get ourselves out of this mess?

And lastly, the real question of trust--if I fall backwards off a bench, will my classmates/friends catch me?  Well, we either have a class of very brave girls or very trusting girls!

you guys there?

ready, set....

free fall!

phew they caught me!
